When it was completed in 1622, the Banqueting House astounded London society, and it still has the power to dazzle and impress today. Designed by Inigo Jones for James I, the building was built in the Palladian style and is one of England’s earliest classical buildings. Let your guests walk in the footsteps of Kings as they enjoy an event under the magnificent ceiling painted by Peter Paul Rubens. With its glittering chandeliers it is an ideal setting for dinners, receptions, fashion shows and the acoustics make classical concerts a pure delight.
Underneath the Main Hall is the more intimate vaulted Undercroft, enjoyed as a drinking den by James I. It is now the perfect venue for a stylish and imaginative party, reception or dinner.
